We understand dramatic. Fireworks are dramatic. A space shuttle launch was dramatic. God’s power at creation was dramatic. Dramatic can generate many oohs and aahs, but this will not save us. God saves us through the quietly dramatic. The quietly dramatic is his Son, our Lord Jesus. He suffered and died on a cross, and most turned away from him. He rose again but few believe it. His work, acheived by his death and resurrection are quietly at work in our hearts through the Word of God, baptism, and the Lord’s Supper, that we may cofess sin, believe in him, and serve him powerfully in the world.
