God’s Justice

Where was the justice of it all? Jesus Christ taught, preached, healed, forgave, raised people from the dead. He was heading to Jerusalem to be received as King. Yet a secret plot was afoot to have Jesus arrested, tried, and killed. There is no justice in that, as far as that was concerned. But something else was happening that only Jesus fully understood: Jesus knew of the plot, and he entered Jerusalem on a donkey, hailed as King, to allow the plot to take hold of him. As King, he allowed himself to be sacrificed in place of all sinners, the people of his creation, to rescue us from sin, death and hell through faith in him. In courtroom of his Father, Jesus, the Almighty Son, was killed that we might set free and sing of him forever. This is God’s justice, Gospel justice, and we sinners are saved only by it.  Come and hear this sermon based on Luke 19:28-40.
