Sacrifice does not come naturally to sinners. We think of our self first and last. It is called self-preservation. Jesus Christ was the pure man, also fully God. He did the unthinkable: he sacrificed his entire life for the world, suffering even hell itself on the cross, to atone for our selfishness. This is truly remarkable. This is the focus of Lent.
