It is ironic that a book titled “Revelation” seems so mysterious to so many people. After all, a revelation is something made clear, a “Hey, I get it,” moment. The last book of the Bible is titled “Revelation,” yet Christians generally do not view it as a book which makes things clear. Many say of it, “It is a figurative, swirling vision, with many mysterious numbers that are supposed to mean something, what they mean, I’m not sure.” Yet, Revelation, authored by the Apostle John by the Holy Spirit, does not teach anything new. Everything it teaches is taught someplace else in Scripture. Overall, Revelation pictures for us the battle between Christ and the devil, which Christ won over him at the cross, and the salvation the church of believers enjoys in Christ, who will return for us on the Last Day. Together, we can say, “Hey, I get that.”
