Urgency and Patience

Having a sense of urgency is often a good thing. A sense of urgency tells us that there is something important to prepare for, and we had better get to it. Jesus teaches us today about having a sense of urgency concerning our repentance. It is through repentance that we are saved from our sins. Tomorrow may be too late! Jesus carries within himself a sense of urgency about our repentance: he came into the world to call us to repentance, and his message never deviates from that. Yet, Jesus is also patient. He patiently works in our hearts the repentance we need daily. He does this through his Word. It is because of him that we repent of our sins and believe in him for salvation.
