Eyesight is a blessing, which enables us to see what the Lord has designed us to see. Physically, we enjoy eyesight through the blessing of the eyeball. But spiritually we need the gift of faith to see what we truly need to see. Faith enables us to see the problem brought upon us by Adam: the blindness of sin, in which we cannot see the problem of sin, from which we all suffer, nor can we see the solution to our blindness, God’s grace to us in sending his Son, Jesus Christ, who suffered for our sins on the cross. It takes faith to see the cross as Jesus’ healing power as the true Christ, rather than Jesus’ failure to heal and restore.
