Evil, destruction, trouble and death we see all around us. When it touches our own lives directly, we complain, “Lord, why are you allowing this?” Do we not complain like this? Yet the Lord promises to work good for his church of believers in these trials. Through the troubles of the world, which he allows to touch us, he brings us to our knees in sorrow and repentance. We admit, “I deserve it.” But the Lord does this that he may lift us up in his promise to save us through his Son, whom he sent to endure the judgment of the cross and hell we deserve. By faith in Jesus, who bore our sins in judgment, the Lord no longer considers us sinners, but righteous. We shall live by this faith eternally in a heaven’s paradise, where no evil or trouble we touch us ever again.
